WELNepal needs your help to continue its work. WELNepal is giving
Nepali women the education they have asked for and deserve. In the
past ten years, WELNepal has provided literacy classes for over
1,000 women. Through our work, Nepali women have seen how literacy
can affect real change and are therefore waiting with great anticipation
for an opportunity to attend literacy classes. Women who have completed
the classes are more likely to send their daughters to school. Consequently
the potential for the growth in Nepali women's empowerment is great.

One hundred percent of the money we collect goes to fund the literacy
project. We would be grateful to receive a donation in any amount.
However, suggested amounts are listed below with descriptions of
how much each amount contributes to helping the Nepali women. All
amounts are in Canadian dollars.
1. Fund a nine-month basic literacy class: $425
The class of 20 to 30 women meets 2 hours a day, 6 days a week.
Your donation will cover all expenses, including training the teacher,
paying her salary, and providing textbooks, notebooks, and pencils
to each student. The class is named in honour of the donor, who
will receive a photo of the students proudly holding a banner with
the donor's name.
2. Pay a teacher's salary for five months: $100
WELNepal hires and trains local educated women to teach other women
in their village to read and write in their own language. Your donation
will cover the cost of training and salary provided to these local
teachers for the entire five months. A teacher will teach a class
of 20 to 30 women that meets 2 hours a day, 6 days a week.
3. Buy textbooks for the nine-month basic literacy class: $50
Your donation will provide two required textbooks for each woman
in the class.
4. Buy class materials for 7 women in the basic literacy class:
$25 Your donation will cover the cost of all class materials
for the entire nine months.
